Home and Family Life of a Politician


The eight sources in this section provide glimpses of the family life of John Curtin in the period 1940 to 1943, in particular his relationships with his wife and daughter.  John Curtin was leader of the federal Opposition in 1940 but ascended to the prime ministership on 7 October 1941. The sources also provide insights into his working life and how he was regarded by his staff.
