A DELICATE BALANCE
These cartoons deal with some of the internal issues that John Curtin had to face as Prime Minister. Some of them are continuing issues which face any Federal Government. For example, "Time Gentlemen Please" refers to the problem of the balance of powers between the Federal Government and the States, this time over access to taxation money. Others however, refer to John Curtin's need to balance his socialist principles with the requirements of a war effort that relied on a compliant industry
