Author: Dr Steven Casey

Dr Casey is a Senior Lecturer in International History at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He completed his MPhil and D.Phil in International Relations at Oxford and joined the LSE in 2001.

His primary research interests lie in US foreign policy since 1933, looking particularly at the interaction between domestic public opinion and foreign-policymaking. Dr Casey has published 2 books with Oxford University Press: Cautious Crusade: FDR, Public Opinion and the War against Germany (2001) and Selling the Korean War: Propaganda, Politics, and Public Opinion in the United States, 1950-1953 (2008). He is co-editor of Mental Maps in the Era of Two World Wars (Palgrave, 2008). Dr Casey has published numerous scholarly articles.

In 2004-5 Dr Casey was the recipient of the Truman Presidential Library Scholar's Award. In 2006 he was awarded a Marshall/Baruch Fellowship. In 2010 he won the presitgious Harry S Truman Book Award for Selling the Korean War: Propaganda, Politics, and Public Opinion in the United States, 1950-1953.

Research undertaken for this project was conducted by Dr Casey as a 2008 Fellow to the Australian Prime Ministers Centre, Canberra, and the 2008 Visiting Scholar to the John Curtin Prime Ministerial Library. This web resource further explores the subject matter introduced in Dr Casey's 2008 JCPML Visiting Scholar Lecture, A missed opportunity: the Curtin-Roosevelt meetings and Australian-American relations.

After completing a degree in history and English at the University of Western Australia in 1968, Sue studied graphic design at the London School of Printing. On returning to Western Australia, she lectured in typographic design at Perth Technical College and became the first designer at the new Fremantle Arts Centre Press. A period of freelance work and involvement in a small screen printing business in Pemberton and Healesville in Victoria followed. Sue then worked as a designer for a public library service for three years while completing a graduate diploma in librarianship at the University of Melbourne. Sue then worked for several years as a reference librarian at Swinburne University.

From 1997 to 2007 Sue worked as a Senior Librarian in the Curtin University Library.

Sue currently works as a freelance designer with a special interest in website design.
