Mr Cameron has had a long and distinguished career with the Australian Labor Party, serving in the Federal Parliamentary Labor Party Shadow Cabinet from 1953-72. Amongst the portfolios he held while in Government, are those of Labour and Immigration and Consumer Affairs. In 1976 he was the Parliamentary Delegate to the UN General Assembly.
As an author and historian, Mr Cameron has contributed more than 15,500 pages of oral history transcripts to the National Library of Australia including interviews with Sir Paul Hasluck, Sir John Gorton and the Rt Hon Malcolm Fraser. His publications include The Cameron Diaries and The Confessions of Clyde Cameron.
