As a record, a picture is truly worth a thousand words. More immediately powerful and concise than words, images uniquely 'freeze' the context and raw emotion of an event.
Tens of thousands of Australians turned out to mourn the death of Prime Minister John Curtin as his funeral procession wound its way through the streets of Perth in July 1945.
