Records work to authorise, initiate and regulate actions

Records signed by appropriate authorities are needed to approve, fund, start up and control important activities.

For example: In World War II, the decision to re-deploy Australian troops from North African theatres of war in defence of Australia was a courageous decision made over strong British objections. This cablegram from Prime Minister John Curtin is dated 30 June 1942.
