LETTERGRAM PRIME MINISTER OF AUSTRALIA HON JON [sic] CURTIN

CANBERRA

The National Party women of Western Australia deplore the continued petty political party propaganda thro press and wireless of ministers members and men who are belittling Britain's great fight and are allowing themselves consciously or unconsciously to be used by enemy agents who are endeavouring to weaken the bond between ourselves and our mother land. We believe it to be particularly unjust unwise and unstatesmanlike of those whose proclaimed policy has always been and still is isolation ie that no soldier shall be officially sent to fight outside Australia to criticise the war efforts of Great Britain in the Pacific. Great Britain's declared and active policy has always been to defend the liberty of the Empire wherever it is threatened to the best of her ability. We recognise and appreciate that this war has been waged mainly by British men and money and but for the sacrifices made by our motherland in lives ships and money we would have already been under the heel of enemy domination. We assure Great Britain through you Mr Prime Minister that all those soldiers who have left our shores did so voluntary and in spite of the declared policy of isolation by some leaders and these volunteer soldiers belonging respectively to all political parties hare wholeheartedly with Great Britain the desire to fight not only for their own shores but for those of the Empire. Further altho a White Australia has been our policy mainly for economic reasons we deplore that at this crucial time when hundreds of thousands of British coloured troops are fighting with British and Australian men to preserve our liberty that certain leaders should bring this issue of a White Australia into the field of controversy we remind the Great Britain thro you that we are a free unfettered country 96 percent British by birth and with the exception of few quislings (noisy and unavoidable in any nation) we are 100 percent bound by a silken cord of affection to our motherland, a cord which political party power seekers cannot break. We further call upon the Prime Minister to form a national government and sink party politics in Australia before party politics sinks Australia.
