Records of Hazel Hawke
A donation of research papers from Hazel Hawke has been significant in developing the JCPML collection in one of its focal areas, namely 'The Prime Ministership as an Office'. These records document Mrs Hawke's time at the prime minister's Lodge (1983-1991) and include a comprehensive set of speeches that she delivered in her role as the wife of Prime Minister Bob Hawke.
Included in the collection are photographs, correspondence, speeches and scrapbooks of press cuttings evocative of the leading role played by Mrs Hawke during her years in the Lodge. As part of developing the Hazel Hawke collection, the JCPML has undertaken a series of interviews with Mrs Hawke and her key associates.
The JCPML Electronic Research Archive provides further details and finding aids for the Records of Hazel Hawke.
You can sample the Hazel Hawke collection online via the JCPML's portal pages for the National Archives of Australia's Australia's Prime Ministers website by exploring What's in the JCPML on Hazel Hawke?
