Backyard Frontline: Australia Under Attack 1942-1943

An Australian War Memorial travelling exhibition hosted by the John Curtin Prime Ministerial Library, 1 March to 27 April 2007. Official opening 4pm Wednesday 28 February 2007 by Mr William Gaynor, OAM RFD, WA State President of the Returned Services League.

Backyard Frontline exhibition invitation

The exhibition was on display in the Kandy-Jane Henderson Foyer of the JCPML from 1 March to 27 April 2007.

Backyard Frontline used personal stories, film footage, photographs and displays of original relics to illustrate the nature of war. From the terrifying episodes of attack to the resourcefulness of the Australian people, this exhibition enabled contemporary Australians to understand the implications of war on everyday lives.

Education activities were available for visiting school groupsand two Memorial Boxes were also available for short term loan to schools while the exhibition was at the JCPML.

This Australian War Memorial travelling exhibition was funded by Saluting Their Service, the Federal Government's commemorations program, honouring the contribution of Australia's servicemen and women.

The exhibition was supported by Visions of Australia, an Australian Government Program supporting touring exhibitions by providing funding assistance for the development and touring of cultural material across Australia.
