R.A.A.F. STATION
CANBERRA, A.C.T.
January 4th, 1942.
Dear Mr. Curtin,
Please accept our heartfelt thanks for your most hospitable gesture in having us to dinner at the Prime Minister's Lodge on Christmas Day.
The memory of your kind act will be cherished by us as one of the most out-standing in the cavalcade of our experiences.
As obscure members of His Majesty's Air Force, we realise that of all the Powers, only in Australia could such an event happen as you prepared for us. We feel that your gesture was truly consonant with the freedom of thought and action of this great country. By your gesture you have shown that you are the living voice of this freedom.
Most sincerely we wish you the very best of health to sustain your robust men-tality to meet the onerous trials of 1942.
