Exploring archives

Students can be introduced to the world of archives through exploring the resource Understanding society through its records and through a 'treasure hunt' in the JCPML Electronic Research Archive.

A treasure hunt in the online archive
The JCPML's Electronic Resarch Archive contains many fascinating 'treasures' amongst the personal papers, photographs, oral histories, copies of official records and other archival material relating to the life and times of John Curtin. This treasure hunt is a lot of fun and leads you to some of the fascinating and lesser known 'personal treasures' to be found in the digital archive.

Understanding society through its records

Understanding society through its records
Have you ever thought of records as the glue that holds society together? This web resource is part of the JCPML's ongoing endeavour to contribute to the development and promotion of archives. Discover why records and recordkeeping are so important. Gain an overview of records and recordkeeping past and present. See how records provide evidence of our lives and document our culture. Discover how records, both personal and public, can empower justice and help to ensure a fair society.

Understanding Society through its Records is well supported with activities, discussion questions, quizzes, interactive examples and useful links.
